Al Ain Visa Run
In Oman it’s only possible to get one month visit visas, so we have had to take a few trips to the Emirates to renew. This time we went to the Al Ain crossing, but since we had been there in February for Marcs birthday, we just went as far as the border this time so that we could take the dogs, who love the wadis! Well, most of them have goats…
Anyway, on this particular day we bashed half of Oman wadis in our little rental car. Not deliberately, but in Oman you can be on a main road, showing as yellow all the way on Google maps, then all of a sudden it turns to gutch, and then before you know it you’re fording rivers. Fun! And beautiful.
on this day we came across a waterfall, which the Omanis stopped to look at, parking along the roadside. So, Marc, in true Marc style drove off the road and parked at the bottom of the falls in the wadi itself. We got out and climbed up with the dogs. Then the Omanis started parking in the middle of the road and firing guns (I wish I’d taken a photo of that!). So, not wanting to upset them to much, we started back down, to see a wall of water cascding down the wadi towards us! Turns out they were firing warning shots! Anyway no harm. We were stuck between two deep fast flowing fords for a few hours, but the locals gave us food and water so all was good!
