Dolphins, Porpoises and Sharks. And Birds.

September 22, 2013

Now that we’re nearly two thirds of the way across, all of India’s wildlife seems to be welcoming us in. First a little sparrow like bird came and hitched a ride in our hammock. Then a school of dolphins swam by and spent half an hour jumping around our bow, and i mean leaping high in the air, and doing somersaults for us… although naturally enough they quit with the acrobatics once they saw I’d got my video camera out!

Hard on their tails came the porpoises, bigger but not so much fun.
Now, about the shark. Yesterday Sultan caught one. Now, we all know that shark tastes disgusting, so we contemplated throwing it back. But nobody wanted to stick their hand in its mouth. So we decided to make biriyani with it. However, in the morning, it apparently smelt like dog piss, so the crew decided to throw the remains overboard. Now I’m having issues with having needlessly killed a creature of the sea.
